Common questions about storage, access, and upgrades.
What's the difference between cold storage and hybrid storage?
Cold storage is optimized for large libraries and long-term retention. Hybrid storage keeps recent files fast while archiving older files efficiently.
Why is the 1 TB plan free but cold-only?
Cold storage has lower operating costs, which lets us offer larger capacity without tradeoffs on security.
Why do you need my payment information for a free plan?
LockItVault requires a valid payment method to activate any account. This helps us ensure all users are 18+ and allows for seamless upgrades in the future. You will not be charged unless you choose a paid plan.
Can I upgrade later without moving files?
Yes. Upgrades keep your files in place and adjust storage class and capacity in your account.
Do all plans include the same security?
Yes. All plans use the same encryption and core security controls.
Is my data private and owned by me?
Yes. You retain ownership of your data, and we do not claim rights to your files.
